Women United members are community leaders who are focused on empowering and inspiring women to lead community-wide change that improves the lives of those in north central Iowa. Membership is comprised of caring citizens who contribute $250 or more annually to United Way of North Central Iowa.

Women United is a program within the United Way of North Central Iowa. Women United is led by its members – women across Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Hancock, Worth, Franklin, Mitchell, Winnebago, and Kossuth counties. Women United’s mission is to reduce the impact of gender-based economic inequality on female-led households. We believe this can be accomplished when women target resources, build relationships, and exchange knowledge. Women United connects women with each other, and with the people impacted by their donations, volunteerism, and activism.
Women United members collectively decide to invest in Women United grants to fund projects and initiatives that address under-resourced female-led homes. Women United recognizes the power of women to drive change in our community. As such, applications ought to focus on initiatives, projects, or programs that specifically seek to support, empower, or engage women and young women leading under-resourced households.
Funding requests are reviewed quarterly by Women United members.

Women United aims to bring together women throughout the North Central Iowa community to leverage their time, talents, and treasure for collective impact. The sum of the activities and interactions of Women United members is to create lasting change within their chosen issue area.

Our Mission
Women United Mentoring
Women United is organizing a mentoring program for women by women. We believe that quality mentoring relationships are powerful and transformative experiences for both the mentee and mentor. Mentors do not need to be experts or skilled educators. Mentoring candidates should be excellent listeners, compassionate, and available for three-month relationships.
