Session Six: Financial Management and Fiduciary Responsibility
Board members act as trustees of the organization's assets and must exercise due diligence and oversight to ensure that the organization is well managed. While board members do not have to be CPA's to be on the board, it is important that each board member is able to read financial statements and understand the financial situation their organization is in.
Materials include a podcast from joangarry.com and readings around the fiduciary duties of nonprofits and the responsibilities that board members take on when they join a nonprofit board.
To complete this section, listen to the podcast and read the articles before moving onto our recorded interview with local board expert Tim Schupick.
