United Way Has Real Impact on North Iowa

The United Way of North Central Iowa continues to have a tremendous impact on this area, and I am thankful for its support. RSVP of North Central Iowa is a volunteer program for people 55 and older. RSVP receives United Way funding for its Reading Buddy and Reading Coach programs, which allows volunteers to spend one-on-one time with elementary and middle school students to improve their reading skills.

The United Way and RSVP have something in common: a dedication to education. The local focus of RSVP is childhood literacy and the majority of volunteers tutor and mentor students. RSVP Volunteers are passionate about helping students improve their reading – they have a lifetime of knowledge and experiences so they know if you can’t read, it’s difficult to be successful. The United Way website states, “Educational attainment is one of the strongest indicators of future success and financial stability.”

RSVP partners with local schools and teachers to provide additional reading help for students, and we could not do that without the support of the United Way. In addition, the funding RSVP receives help leverage federal funds to support volunteer programming in this area.

Please consider a donation to the United Way of North Central Iowa. Whether your gift supports education, income, or health, it is truly impacting those who need some extra support in North Central Iowa. It is helping them find success and stability.
